If you are a regular reader of our newsletters, you will already be aware of our partnership with Grovenbridge Academy to provide training and short courses in a range of Estates and Facilities Management topics – all at preferential rates for HFC Members who enjoy 50% off.
As well as scheduled courses for NHS and other colleagues, Grovenbridge can provide bespoke customised courses at your premises for your team, focusing on an individual Trust or group of Trusts to keep individual Trust teams up to date on the latest guidance using their own local information as the basis for the day. Again, these courses are available to HFC Member organisations at the preferential rate of 50% off.
Grovenbridge Academy has now become a CELL (Constructing Excellence in Learning Limited) Approved Training Centre and it has successfully put its first two courses - Driving Cost Improvement at Level 3 and Premises Assurance at Level 5 – through the OFQUAL accreditation process.
For those unfamiliar with OFQUAL accreditation it is easy to relate the process to the NVQ method of training. NVQ scale ranges from 1-7, with 7 being the highest (degree level). Both of our qualifications therefore represent a high level of qualification – as well as giving participants knowledge and skills they can use in their work, it also gives the Trust the opportunity to up-skill its staff and give them a tangible, nationally recognised qualification which is transferable from post to post.
A big thank you to everyone who filled in our survey about the value of training – the key findings were that respondents thought that almost all of the courses were valuable, with the two accredited courses and that on backlog maintenance being most in demand over the next six months. No one suggested that the courses were over-priced – as readers will know, the Estate is one of the most expensive assets for any NHS body and our courses aim at helping colleagues get the most out of that asset, with significant potential for major savings, and Member Trusts get a 50% discount on the cost.
We also had positive feedback on the idea of a course aimed at newly promoted staff and will be doing further work to come up with a more detailed programme.
